CEO Update 17.03.20

As a member owned business, the wellbeing of our members and community is always foremost in our minds. 

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, I thought it timely to provide an update on BDCU Alliance Bank’s current position, and the steps we are taking to ensure the health and wellbeing of our members, employees, contractors and tenants.  

Our approach to managing COVID-19 is cautious and informed, with our decisions based on communication and guidance from Australian Health Authorities.  We are committed to ensuring that we take every precaution to keep our members and employees safe during these challenging times. 

Protecting our business operations

Our Business Continuity Team meets daily to monitor and adjust our approach to this evolving situation.  Like all businesses, we expect our protocols will continue to be tested over the next few weeks and months.

To date the measures we have implemented include, but are not limited to: 

  • The display of information and posters in each centre and workspace, including an outline of hygiene best practices to limit the spread of any virus across the community.
  • Daily cleaning of our centres and workspaces, with hand sanitisers made available for employees and members at each interaction.
  • Regular communication to employees to inform and minimise the risk of infection and spread across the community.
  • Ongoing testing of our banking systems and procedures to ensure resilience in the face of any business interruption that may occur. 
  • Ongoing testing of our remote working infrastructure, including the introduction of remote working practices for employees where appropriate.
  • Reducing face-to-face meetings and increasing the capacity for employees to hold internal and external meetings via video or telephone conferencing.
  • Working with our alliance partner, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, to leverage their resources and protections, including the existing Australian Government Guarantee.

Reducing risk to our members and community

Our Business Continuity Plan includes measures to maintain our services to you should we need to implement isolation policies or close a centre for a short period of time to limit infection and spread.  

If you have tested positive with COVID-19, or are suspected of having been exposed to the virus, we respectfully ask that you do not visit a centre until your self-isolation period has passed or you have been confirmed virus free.  

Maintaining member service

In the event of any centre closure our member service team will continue to be available to provide support and advice when you call BDCU Alliance Bank on 02 4860 4000.  

We do not expect any disruption to ongoing banking services provided through online banking, our mobile banking app, Google or Apple pay, or phone banking.  If you do not currently have access to these remote banking services please contact our member service team on 02 4860 4000 for assistance with setup or any other banking needs. 

As we continue to learn about COVID-19 and the impact on our community, we feel it is important to take a calm and balanced approach to protect and manage the impact to our employees, members and business.  We will continue to provide you with regular updates as the situation evolves.
