Our Volunteering Programs
BDCU staff have always gone over and above and helped out both as part of their roles and in their own time. This year has seen the growth of our existing Corporate Volunteering Program with staff helping out at:
- Tangara School
- Mittagong Public School
- Meals on Wheels
- Wingecarribee Animal Shelter
- Angels Pantry
The team have done everything from reading to kids, painting buildings, gardening to walking dogs. In the last financial year the team has clocked up an impressive 5379 community volunteering hours!
As locals we believe in making a positive difference to our communities.
Tangara School
Tangara School is situated in Mittagong within the Southern Highlands and is a school for students with intellectual disabilities. Tangara provide a quality and caring learning environment with professional and dedicated teaching and support staff.
Our team of volunteers help maintain Tangara's sensory garden, wash their school buses and provide a helping hand in the classroom.
Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels provide people who are unable to cook due to mental illness, disability, or ill-health with a meal that is nutritious and affordable.
Our team help out every fortnight by picking up meals from the kitchen in Moss Vale and delivering it to customers in Moss Vale and Mittagong.
Wingecarribee Animal Shelter
The Animal Shelter in Moss Vale provide a safe and caring environment for animals that have been abandoned by their owners or are lost. The shelter aims to rehome all dogs and cats to suitable families within an appropriate time frame.
To help the employees maintain or improve the health of the animals, our team of volunteers keep the dogs well exercised by walking and playing fetch.
Mittagong Public School
Mittagong Public School offer outstanding opportunities for learning and development in a caring and supportive environment.
One of the programs our team supports is the Literacy Lions reading program. Our team volunteer weekly by providing each child with one-to-one learning where they listen to children read and assist with comprehension, sight word and fluency skills.
